Stuff wot we learned today

Well what a ride that was! Late arrivals, massive group, mechanicals , new café, new faces, new bikes.

A veritable peloton of Wheelers out today all burning off the last of Christmas. Nice to see some returning faces who’ve not been out for a while , some shiny new machines as well. Despite allowing Dianne 2 minutes lippy time as standard , she didn’t show so we left without her.

Tilly’s Tea Room in Bunbury was our watering hole for today and a scenic route kept us switching in and out of headwinds and tailwinds but a good steady pace saw us there. Service was ,well, relaxed shall we say as it took longer to get coffee and toast than it did to ride there but then I suppose when one of your table orders steak and chips what do you expect? After 20 minutes waiting , the door burst open and in staggers Dianne after a 2 hour pursuit – sits down and her grub arrives first! Quality!

The ride back was a bit off piste as an unscheduled turn off the Eaton road caught me out. It wasn’t on my plan and we deviated down a lane I’ve never been down before so I was out of my internal sat nav. Almost lost! The turn took us further east than I’d planned so to anyone late back , sorry about that. Cerys popped a gasket and succumbed to the broom wagon as mum was summoned to meet us. Couldn’t fit 2 bikes in the back of the car so yours truly had to ride on alone… When we got home I asked Cerys at what point she realised she was on a bad day? On the hill going into Frodsham on the way out came the forlorn reply!

All in all it was a good day, great to see so many out in racing stripes on a grotty day. Now your out , keep coming out and lets have a great season. Well in all.

Forza Frodshaam!!
