Weekend Rides October 4th – 5th

October is upon us , the Race of the Falling Leaves beckons on Eurosport, tights or leg warmers is the argument you have with yourself before you come out , along with jacket or arm warmers , best shoes or overshoes, will I need my lights , gillet or cape in the back pocket, will I be over dressed, will I be cold……. the worries are endless. One thing that never changes and you can bet your mortgage on though is that the Arancionero WILL be doing the Wizard on Saturday!!

Saturday – 8:30 , Moughland Lane Lights – 30 miles each way , steady pace, all riders and abilities are welcome. Flat route , apart from the ascent to the caff. As ever , the do amazing cakes , its a lovely place with great staff so get out while the weather holds.

Sunday – One big happy group but today as promised is a long one. a kind of low key epic if you will. Probably around 80 miles , a few of the North Wales classics – dare I say Bwlch Penbarras –  thrown in. I’ll drop a map on Facebook later. There will be opportunities to cut short if we need to and low gears will be in use!! Expect to be home around 2:30. Knackered.

Keep in mind it’s the social season , the rides through until January are your base miles for next season . I think us old heads can all speak from bitter experience about the disappointment of training flat out all winter and peaking in March. If you’re going well at Christmas , you’re peaking too early. Keep these rides steady , bring the group on. practice riding in tight formation, look after each other.
