Rounds 6 started off on a blustery night, however the wind soon subsided to allow for a great nights racing

For the 2nd week in a row the course welcomed 30 riders, with a full complement of Marshals thanks to the fabulous volunteers from both clubs. What was also pleasing to see was the number of women riders taking part. Many of whom have were either on their 1st or 2nd TT.

RCC’s Rob Green wasn’t present on the night which meant a new 1st place finisher was up for grabs. Who was that to be? Would the wind be a factor?

As the wind dropped, it was clear there we’re going to be some quick times as riders sliced through the air. Bad luck would strike 2 riders for the first time in the Interclub series as RCC’s Amy Connor and Wheelers’ James Murphy both suffered punctures which forced them to abandon their runs. Nevertheless, the rest of the field posted some very quick times.

Taking the spoils on the night was RCC’s Jonny Okell with an impressive 22:26. RCC’s Mike Leadbeater was 2nd with a 23:50. Private entry Dean Smith pipped Wheelers’ Al Orme to 3 by a second with 24:12. RCC’s Paul Cheers rounded out the top 5 places with a personal best of 24:42 taking 25 seconds of his previous PB.

RCC’s Jess McCann was the fastest lady on the night with a 31:21 in only her 2nd TT. Plenty of other personal bests were seen on the night which is great to see and testament to the efforts of all involved. RCC lead the Interclub points by 197 to 133 at the half way point. All still to play for with 6 more rounds to go and a handicap event in week 13.

The organisers from both clubs would like to thank all the many volunteers that have made these weekly events possible. The riders are extremely grateful for your time.

All riders welcome, whether club members or not 🙂

The Interclub event is an open event for all to come along and try. There are some lovely fast sections on the course while being a technical course with 3 right angle turns which you have to navigate twice. Come along and give the D36/10 course a go. £4 for non RCC / Wheelers members, and £3 for members.

Thanks, Paul
